I remember a conversation I had with MDH about my body being stubborn. After I had being told by the nurse that I was probably among the 10{75ba8d714eabb0b6c64c04669e25dea528a47d63aa2e14b9610bfa32cc9964fa} of women on Synarel who do not respond to the drug for down regulation(this was after my oestrogen levels were still going up instead of down), MDH said my body was stubborn. And I said, I wish my body was resistant to weight gain instead.
I appear to have a weight issue. Clinically I am obese.
I am five foot six inches tall and at my last weigh-in, weighed 83kg.
To be able to have IVF on the NHS, I cannot have a BMI(Body Mass Index) of more than 30.
Because of my weight and height, my BMI just hovers under 30. This means I have to be super careful about any weight gain between starting IVF and embryo transfer. I cannot be more than the weight limit.
Now picture this, I am black girl who loves food and I have the hips to prove it 🙂
My parents are not overweight, my brothers are skinny, fit and gorgeous. I am the only big one in the family.
No – to answer your question, I have not always being obese. Until about six years ago, I was a skinny girl. There were times when a size eight dress, jumper, blouse were too big for me! Now I wear double that size, size 16! I can still fit into some high street 12s but mainly my dress size is 14/16. This of course also depends on the shop in question and the cut of the item.
So I have been on a perpetual diet trying to keep my weight low so my BMI does not go over 30. I gain a kilo, lose two kilos, gain three kilos, lose two kilos, etc etc. Calorie control, portion size control and walking/playing golf. I am not sure that any of these are working in helping me lose weight. But the battle continuous.
Thanks for stopping by.
