Please note as you read – this posting should have been published on sunday the 17th of March 2013. It is been published a little later than it would otherwise have been.
Sorry folks – I had been kinda down since the down regulation scan attempt IV.
It appears the aspiration that was done was not successful. It had been drained (apologies for the grossness here) but appeared to have refilled. My endometrium was over 10mm in thinkness and my Estradiol (oestrogen) levels was over 800pg/mL.
My previous results were as follows:
- first DR attempt – endometrium thickness was 6.3mm but estradiol results were not available as the blood sample had not been properly labelled.
- second DR attempt- endometrium was again 6.3mm thick and estradiol was over 500pg/mL
- third DR attempt – endometrium was 10.3mm and estradiol was over 600pg/mL
- fourth DR attempt – endometrium was 6.3 and estradiol was over 800pg/mL
I was absolutely fine following the four visit to the Cambridge IVF centre.
Com the second day and I was in a very bad funk – felt really down and horrible. I guess with it being the four attempt and having had the aspiration I was really expecting that all would be well in the world of down regulation. But it was not to be.
The course of treatment Oxford recommended was the following:
- stop the current cycle and start again – meaning stop sniffing Synarel.
- once my next cycle starts, I would be put on the injection Buserelin (once a day)
- I would also have the scan and blood work to enable them determine what my baseline endometrium thickness and estradiol levels are for my Buserelin down regulation scan and blood work.
This was last week. I have not had a good week but my weekend was made a lot better with family again.
MDH and I took our lovely nieces to London, did a spot of shopping, had some lunch and saw Lion King!
It was fantastic, this is my second viewing but it was a first time experience for everyone else in my party.
Sunday (fam-day) was great with family around as well.
I have done the usual “lets see what google has to say” and looked up how long it will take to have my next cycle. If google and various bloggers and forums are to be believed, it will not be for another three months or so. I am soo gutted and low. I am actually thinking this process should have been at the stage where follicles have already been collected and embryos/zygotes are being transferred this week. But here we are still trying to DR.
I have an appointment on Thursday the 21st of March 2013, so I can be taught how to inject buserelin. This is because the centre wants me to start the Buserelin inject on day II of my next cycles and I need to know how to inject the drug so I am ready when the cycle starts.
All I can do now is keep my fingers crossed until next cycle begins. And pray all goes well.
I wish I had better news for you.
xx
