I am in two minds about whether to love or be frustrated with the NHS/Cambridge IVF centre.

I have had to have two more Ultrasound scans and two more blood tests.

My first repeat scan was on friday the 1st of March 2013. It was a horrible experience!
The sonographer who did the scan was not the greatest and mistook my right ovary for my left one and then proceeded to look for my right ovary and it was flipping awful and uncomfortable. I felt like my poor internals were going to be pushed out! But my body and I got through it 🙂
Cyst/follicle was still there and appeared to have grown in size too.

And then I was told of the reason why I needed another blood draw. Apparently the nurse who did my blood draw on tuesday had neglected/forgotten to properly label my blood sample. The lab woud not touch the sample without the right label ( and rightly so too). Thus my second draw.
And yes – I made doubly sure that the sample was labelled properly.

I had a voicemail with an appointment on monday the 4th of March 2013 for a repeat scan.

So roll on monday morning, another scan, another blood draw.
Cyst/follicle beginning to look slightly disintegrated. But uterus lining was thicker than at my scan on friday.
Blood results come in and are not good. Results required to be below 200 for oestrogen content. But friday blood sample was over 550 and monday sample over 650.

Oxford have decided to move it forward a little – not to wait till the follicle clears on its own and I shed my lining. But rather to aspirate to try and bring oestrogen levels down to the level required. Ergo my aspiration appointment to Oxford on thursday the 7th of March 2013!

I would most likely have to carry on with the Synarel sniffing for another two weeks or so.

It is becoming disappointing and I am a little frustrated as to why I was not given the injectable/short down regulation cycle.

I understand that the aspiration is the same procedure for egg collection – excerpt instead of collecting eggs, it will be using the same needle like probe to puncture and drain the cyst.

MDH and I are driving to Oxford on thursday and I expect to be out of it for most of the day too.
If nothing at all, Oxford’s visit will allow Oxford to do a mock run of the egg collection route.

Here’s to hoping for the best!
And thanks for reading.
