I woke up this morning feeling a little apprehensive. I actually woke up at quarter to 5am and could not go back to bed. I felt tired and a little worried that the test might not go so well. And I would have to carry on sniffing for a little while longer.
And wait for it …
I was RIGHT!
The tests are all done – scan (transvaginal) and blood work. The scan was a little disconcerting. It is not the first time I have had the scan but it feels pretty much the same every time. The nurse asked me if I was comfortable right before the scan, with my legs in stirrups and nothing but a little piece of hospital cover cloth covering my bottom – she said “hopefully you are comfortable”. And I said take a guess! 🙂
Unfortunately it would appear that I have not down regulated. I appear to have a follicle (mature one) as this is mid-cycle for me. Had I not been down regulating, this would have been the time in my cycle that I would be ovulating right about now. Usually this would be good news but as I want the opposite now this is not good news. The nurse was really helpful and sympathetic. She decided “let’s soldier on as if all is well until the blood work results come in”. So my blood has been taken and I now await the results – which I should be told of tomorrow afternoon. My oestrogen levels should below 200 in numbers – that would be the final confirmation that I have successfully down regulated. But at this rate, it is not looking good.Should the results come back confirming that I had not successfully down regulated, I have three further treatment alterations:
- continue on Synarel for another week or two until fully down regulated.
- have the follicle popped to drain and continue on Synarel or
- have the follicle popped to drain and change down regulator to the injectable one.
Options 2 and 3 will require a bit of travel as it will need to be done by Oxford as the IVF centre.
I asked the nurse if I was the first person to have not down regulated and her response was I was the”first one this week, but there were three last week”. She also said that about 10{75ba8d714eabb0b6c64c04669e25dea528a47d63aa2e14b9610bfa32cc9964fa} of all patients on Synarel do not down regulate. So it looks like I might actually be falling within the 10{75ba8d714eabb0b6c64c04669e25dea528a47d63aa2e14b9610bfa32cc9964fa} who do not down regulate on Synarel.
If the results are not good, it would mean a month’s delay/setback 🙁
