Not sure if I should tell my boss that I am undergoing IVF treatment.
On one hand I think it would be really good to let them know so I can be allowed a bit of leeway to attend appointments/book holidays at very short notice.
On the other hand, I am not sure that telling him would be any good for me. He is not the most sympathetic person when it comes to pregnant women. Though to be fair, we have had quite a few pregnant girls in the business. It is not that he does not like pregnant employees – it is that all those who go off on maternity come back part-time!! And that is means a high number of headcount with all the costs associated with it and no corresponding output in terms of work. Even I find that challenging. So based on that, I am not sure that he will be very welcoming of one of his team looking to get knocked up!

I think however that the choice has been made for me now. I asked for a holiday based on the late appointment at Oxford and he has said NO! Well the rest of my colleagues including him are at a conference this week and I will be the only senior member of the business in the country. So again fair enough. But seeing as I cannot postpone the Oxford appointment, I would have to have the conversation with him tomorrow! I am not looking forward to it all. But hey ho – it must be done.
